Portland Streetcar and Aerial Tram
Streetcar started running in 2001. First new modern streetcars in North America. Seattle and others are following; about 80 US cities are discussing streetcars now.
Connects South Waterfront to Northwest shopping area via 7.2 mile (11.5 km) loop through downtown. Middle photo shows view from Feldman’s flat.
10 streetcars, made in Czech Republic. These will be built under license in Portland by Oregon Iron Works starting 2008.
