Ada as a Foundation Programming Language: Starting Off on the Right Foot

Despite the current fashion for starting computing curricula with C++ or Java, several thousand students each year, in more than a hundred colleges and universities around the world., begin their professional education with Ada. Faculty and students in these programs agree that Ada is the way to start a university education on the right foot. After fifteen years of Ada as a foundation language, innovation continues in Ada-based curricula, new textbooks are continuing to emerge, and new schools are "joining up." In higher education, as in the software industry at large, market share is not the only measure of success.
